Hitchin Christmas Hamper Appeal (Update)
The 2021 Hitchin Christmas Hamper Appeal has proved to be a great success and raised £5,901, smashing last year’s target by nearly £2,000!
For those of you who are aware of the great work done by Rotary Club of Hitchin and Hitchin Volunteer Army the appeal is now in its 7th year of supporting 160 families and individuals in Hitchin and the surrounding villages with supermarket vouchers to purchase the food they required for the Christmas period and toys for the children.
When the appeal was originally set up, they gave out food hampers with everything needed for a Christmas meal including meat/alternative, fresh vegetables, gravy, stuffing, chocolate logs, etc. along with presents for the children. With all the uncertainty of 2020 they moved to virtual hampers by providing supermarket vouchers rather than a food parcel.
